Year 3/4 Home Learning 2017

Please see below the weekly home learning set for Year 3/4 students. There are a list of  "Can Do's" as well that the students may do if they wish but these are optional.

Year 3/4 Home Learning
Spelling words
Reading
Choose up to 5 words to learn from the essential list given to you by your teacher (glued into your book) Once you have mastered a word (by getting it correct 5 times), colour it in. When you finish your sheet, ask your teacher for the next one.
Ideas for learning spelling.
You can practise your words in a number of ways including using different colours, writing with chalk on concrete,using your words in a story, making a word search or making your words using magazine letters. On Fridays you can share with the class how you have been practising your words.

Remember to take one home each day from your book box or read one you enjoy from home or from the library. You don’t have to read the whole story if it is a long one.

Please return your book to the book box once you have finished reading it.





Can Do

If you have extra time and you want to do more homework, remember the “can do” activities in your homework book. Which can be shared with the class on Friday.

Maths
Remember to do your basic facts sheet which is glued into your home learning book. Choose 5 to do a week.
You should be able to answer each question in less than 4 seconds. When you have mastered your sheet, ask your teacher for another one.

Plan the week's dinners and create a shopping list.

Write a news report on a topic of your interest

Turn a book you have read into a play.

Want to change something at school?
Write a letter to Mr Elder and convince him the importance of this change.

How many times can you hop on the spot for a minute?
Extension: Using the above information if you hopped on the spot for an hour how many times would you hop?

Ask you family and friends what their favorite dinner meal is. Make a tally chart and then graph it.

For a week record the time the sun sets each night.
Graph it. What does your results tell you?
